Reds turn on a clinic against Wests

The Goulburn Dirty Reds put together their most confident and consistent performance of the season with a 67-0 win against Wests Lions.

The Reds led by 26-0 eighteen minutes into the match but that momentum was halted for a good 15 minutes as Wests worked their way back into the game and Goulburn conceded a run of penalties.

Coach Ben Pearson’s warned against complacency and exhorted his troops to up the ante in the second half and that’s what they did.

After compiling four tries in the first half, the Reds added a further seven in the second.

Captain Jordan Wilcox finished with a hat-trick and the club’s leading point scorer Mikael Webber added another 17 points to his tally (along with another nine points in reserve grade).

The result was Goulburn’s second biggest all-time winning margin against Wests, Goulburn’s biggest win of the year and Wests biggest loss of the season.

From four matches this year, the Reds have registered two wins, a draw and just one loss but they will be tested next week on the road against Cooma – a match that typically stretches Goulburn’s player numbers.
