Barbarians make their mark with first black division win

Barbarians travelled to Gowrie on Saturday to play the Tuggeranong Vikings.

The Barbarians started the game strongly scoring the first try to lead 5 – 0 after some great lead up work by the whole team.

Vikings hit back with two quick tries taking the lead 12 – 5 .The match continued towards half time in a see sawing style with both teams showing their attacking and defensive skills throughout the half.

There were some strong runs from Hayden Collins, Darcy Cooper, Bryce Carey and Mitchell Dougall and Jonah Ryan leading into half time, with the Vikings holding the 12-5 lead into the break.

The Barbarians had a chat, oranges and the magic water at half time and came out the second half all guns blazing.

The forwards were making yards with strong running from Jack Field and his Barbarian mates. The backs held there own chiming in throughout the game linking up with the forwards and holding their very speedy counterparts at bay.

Barbarians never gave up throughout the game and this showed as the Barbarians scored four tries to nil in the second half, coming away winners 31 – 12 for the first win in the black division competition.

It was a fantastic team effort right across the park from the forwards to the backs , the team played as a team and the result showed ,well done guys great result.

Best and fairest players were Hayden Collings (3), Tom Fieldhouse (2) and Mitchell Dougall (1) with Hayden also earning Players Player.
