Under 16s victorious in first game with new club

A new team, a new club.

Goulburn U16’s Black.

With trying times over the past few weeks we knew our first game into the revised 2020 season would be tough. As soon as we saw Daramalan today we were definitely in for a physical match that would inevitably come down to fitness. 

It started off with Darra taking possession from their kickoff, ball in hand for the first 5 minutes of the match. We soon found our form after a slow start but to their credit, the boys pushed on and played as a team.

Defensively they dug in and kept Darra on their toes. After a few consecutive tries the game started to coast away with half time at 26-0, Goulburn.

The second half opened with Goulburn continuing to mount pressure on Darra however a few lapses in defence saw the home team in with a try.

Goulburn continued to dig in deep and the game stretched out to a final score of 40-14 Goulburn’s win.

Each team we face from now on will continue to push us to our limits so preparation is key.

We look forward to our next match against Eddies in front of our home crowd. I believe today’s win was a team effort and each and every player out there contributed to our win…well done. But in saying that it doesn’t stop there, there are still areas that we need to improve on and room to grow. 

Best and fairest were Elec Eliott (3), Jamie Robertson (2) and Dylan Biles (1). Players Player was Alec Elliott.
