Two from two for dominant Dirty Reds

Continuing their confident start to the season, the Dirty Reds easily accounted for Uni Norths on Saturday with a 47-5 win at ANU North Oval.

Picking up where they left off last week, the Reds were on the board just three minutes into the game with Ben Todkill’s third try for the year. Tries followed for Goulburn in the 17^th and 23^rd minutes to Izzy Tittor and Eric Brown, with Tittor kicking all three.

While the scoring was one-sided, the field position and possession weren’t. Uni Norths had their chances but committed defence cut them down. At the break, Goulburn was up by 21 to nil.

Echoing the first half, it was three minutes in when Goulburn next scored when hooker Tim Moule crossed for Goulburn’s fourth try, again converted by Tittor.

Owls were next on the board just five minutes after that, but it was to be the only time they gave the scorekeeper something to do.

Tittor scored a second try for Goulburn, followed by late tries to Will Mooney and Jordan Wilcox, both in the last five minutes, for a final 47-5 result.

It was a dominant score and performance by Goulburn and their defence remained strong throughout. Despite that, the second half performance seemed a bit flatter than the first, despite scoring more tries and points in that second section.

From two games so far, Goulburn holds a for and against record of 100/15 but this will be tested as they progressively take on higher-achieving sides.

Next weekend only reserve grade is playing. The rest of the club will be back in action against Tuggeranong on 22 May in Goulburn.

Best and fairest players for Goulburn were Izzy Tittor (3) who slotted six from seven conversion attempts, Jordan Wilcox (2) with Tim Moule and Henry Cooper picking up a point each. Wilcox was also named Players Player.
