Understaffed Goulburn Women tough out return to XVs rugby

Goulburn Rugby’s Women’s team made their return to the top flight on Saturday, travelling to Boomanulla to take on Royals.

The Reds took to the field with 12 players, all of whom played themselves to a standstill. It’s a cliché, but the 51-10 scoreline did not reflect the competitiveness of the contest. The Reds had a number of new faces pulling on the boots for the first time this season, and they all acquitted themselves well.

Keeley Martin and Kelsie Crockford both crossed for the Reds in their debut match, and it’s likely we will see them on the end of more tries this season.

A huge thank you to Royals Coach Darren Goodwin for offering to match numbers on the field, and ensuring that both sides got a fair game.

Goulburn will host Wests Lionesses this Saturday at Poidevin Oval.
