Weekend roundup – Sunday, 19th July 2020

Are we on yet?

Yes, we are. AT LAST. After a mammoth pre-season and a bunch of stops and starts, season 2020 FINALLY got under way yesterday. And even though it's a shortened season, with seven grades playing for the club in home and away competitions, it's the largest contingent of Dirty Reds unleashed on the world in a single year. And nothing exemplifies our pride in being a family club better than seeing father and son Boyd and Harry Newby (photo above) play together this weekend.

Starting with seniors, a new look reserve grade side with a smattering of Goulburn Bulldogs in the mix, got the ball rolling with a  record-breaking 86-10 win over Easts at Griffith Oval.

They were followed onto the paddock by first grade who submitted a confident 33-14 win over Easts.

On the other side of Canberra, the Women made history when they took the field as the first-ever Goulburn Women's competition XV at Weetangera Playing Fields. And they didn't just take the field, they owned it... picking up where they left after their unbeaten season and premiership in 10s last year with a 22-0 win over Wests. Next weekend Goulburn Women have the bye.

In juniors, the former Trinity Under 16s opened their 2020 account with a win... 40-14 over Daramalan

Likewise, the Under 15s that had previously played under Trinity banner welcomed their new club with a 31-19 win over Gungahlin.

The Goulburn/Yass U14 Barbarians had a narrow loss, down 15-10 to St Eddies Blue at Yass.

We'll post details here on the Under 14s when we receive them.

Around the grounds

Normally we'd show how other teams in the various competitions fared, but the Rugby Xplorer app seems to have gurked itself and we don't have full results yet. Here's what we have so far.

Current ladders

Again, due to lack of information on matches not involving our players, we don't have many ladders available yet. But seeing as it's round one, any of our teams that had a bonus point win are equal leaders of their respective competitions.

Player Statistics

Each week we'll try to highlight some of the functions of the website that you might find handy. This week it's statistics.

As we post in team lists, the website tracks statistics so that you can see who is the lead try scorer in your team, in all over juniors or seniors, or for the whole club. You can do the same for most matches (A for appearances), for most Points and even Points Per Match (PPM).

If numbers are your bag, deep dive into this.
